There are no mascots, no ads in the trainer, and no points to chase. Just calm practice and honest numbers.

How the course works

The course has four phases. First you learn every key in its place, from the home row to the numbers. Then you practice common words and sentences with a personal speed goal. In the third phase you type real texts, work on an even rhythm, and do short sprints. The fourth phase keeps your level with a weekly test and a refresher based on your mistakes.

A lesson is complete once you type it with 97% accuracy. Accuracy first, speed second: that way you build the right movements instead of practicing errors. Plan 10 to 20 minutes a day; the overview of all lessons shows where you stand.

For US, UK and other keyboards

Touch typing works on any keyboard, but not every key sits in the same place everywhere. That is why typando shows the on-screen keyboard in your layout, including the Mac version, and colors each key by its finger.

The typing test measures your current speed in one, three, or five minutes. Finish the course and you earn a diploma; separately, the typing certificate comes in four levels from Bronze to Platinum. The guide covers speed, posture, and how long learning takes; free texts to copy are in the practice texts. typando is available in six languages.

Plan for roughly 20 to 35 hours of practice spread over 6 to 10 weeks until you type reliably without looking. With 15 minutes a day you make steady progress; short daily sessions work better than long weekend blocks.

Which keyboard do I need?
Your own. typando knows the US and UK layouts plus eleven more for Windows and Mac. The on-screen keyboard shows exactly your keys, and the exercises only contain characters you can type on it.
